Miastanza Web Site Goes Live

Today saw the launch of the new Miastanza web site (www.miastanza.co.uk). In July Nick Lightowler from Miastanza Limited a contemporary furniture and gift business based in Nantwich, Cheshire approached us to put together a proposal to update their existing web site.

The Current Site

In its current state the web site was just static pages, proving very difficult for Nick and his team to update the web site and provide fresh content to vistors and existing customers. Although the site fulfilled some of it purpose such as providing contact details and a way for people to email Miastanza with queries, they wanted to have a more feature rich solution in place. The site looked very static and felt like it had very little interactivity.

Requirements

Nick (project leader) at Miastanza told us that he wanted an easy to use system where he could add and update content without having to learn HTML or any other programming. He wanted to be able to access the system from any of the 3 shops that they have in Nantwich. Nick also expressed that he wanted the web site to conform to the latest W3C Web Standards, and that they would need us to host the web site and provide them with an email service.

The Solution

In completing the project we combined 3 to 4 different services into one manged project, Web DesignContent Management SystemsWeb Application Hosting, and some on-site Search Engine Optimisation and training for Nick.

We had to come up with an easy to use, cost effective solution for all the Miastanza staff to use. We decided that we would use a Content Management Systems approach to the project so that Nick and his team could provide content in a sturctured manner using a simple to use word style editor. The system was designed to provide editable areas and and non-editable areas that never change so that the team dont damage the look of the site by accident.  The system we implemented is accessible through a web browser, from any computer with an Internet connection.

When we started to think about the look and feel we decided to go with a fresh white and light blue look for the site. The images and current graphics that Miastanza already had looked extremely professional, so the white and blue fresh off the print run look merged well with the photos they had.

Miastanza were hosting their web site and email with a different provider, but they decided to transfer the site over to our server so that we could monitor and mange the new site post launch to fully assist and trouble shoot any issues.

With the requirements that Miastanza had and the solutions we provided show that Miastanza Limited have made a positive step in appointing Red Zoo Internet as their strategic digital partner and we continue to work together to deliver exciting new upgrades and features throughout 2008 and 2009.

"Next - Ecommerce" says Nick Lightowler @ Miastanza.
